Deliveroo added #bnpl with Klarna , why is that a problem ?

The question is ; BNPL on a food delivery app, a seemingly harmless addition, should such form of credit(debt to the customer) be offered ?

I think this has a lot to do with perception. Credit cards are an acceptable method of credit, BNPL on the other hand is probably not understood very well and is usually questioned.

Regulations will have to come into this, but the delay in getting regulations to be built should not stop a food delivery app from offering this as a method of payments.

If you think this is illegal, stop it, and if you think BNPL is risky credit, then regulate it. But patronising just because “someone thinks” it is not right, is ridiculous.

So much for innovation.

Having said that, China has taken an extreme steps to curb the super app concept. There are limitations on offering financial services on an application. But, again that is China, very different regulatory infrastructure.
