Amazon Web Services (AWS) did ~$65 billion in revenue in 2021 and yet they are not the most well know brand in the world.
They have a huge impact on the financial industry and their influence is increasing, but quietly.
AWS is a key player in the modernization of the banking industry. Ask any banker and they will tell you that AWS is being considered as part of their plans.
It is also believed that a major chunk of Ethereum nodes are on AWS and most likely it will play an important role in the development of the #web3 world.
Yet, they are not really the most well known brand.
I do not believe this is a coincidence. Why would you want to shout out the fact that you have a monopoly over a market (and they did before Microsoft entered the game), it will attract competition and challengers.
A business would want to maintain its monopoly for as long as they can till competition arrives, which is inevitable.
This is a strategy practiced by many global businesses.
Google has done this for ages, you will never hear them saying that they own the search engine market. The language will usually be forward looking rather than showing off with absolute statements.
A monopoly in a market is a luxury that all businesses strive for, for as long as they can.
